Advocacy & Communications Specialist (P-3) – 8‑month TA

About the role

UNICEF is seeking an Advocacy and Communications Specialist (P‑3) for an eight‑month temporary assignment in Bujumbura, Burundi. The specialist will lead the design and implementation of advocacy and communication strategies that promote children’s rights and support UNICEF’s programmes in the country.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement advocacy strategies to influence policy and protect children’s rights.
• Design and execute communication strategies, including digital media and traditional outreach.
• Manage media relations and produce content for various audiences.
• Monitor and evaluate advocacy and communication activities.
• Oversee project and budget management for advocacy initiatives.
• Build capacity of partners and staff in advocacy and communication.
• Engage stakeholders, including government, NGOs, and donors.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or equivalent in Public Policy, International Relations, Development, Communication or related field.
• Minimum five years of experience in advocacy, campaigning or communications.
• Fluency in French and intermediate proficiency in English.
• Experience in international or humanitarian settings is an asset.
• Knowledge of an additional UN language or local language is a plus.
