Advocacy and Communications Specialist (P-3, TA, 8 months)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking an Advocacy and Communications Specialist (P‑3) on a temporary assignment in Bujumbura, Burundi. The specialist will lead the design, implementation and evaluation of advocacy and communication strategies that promote children’s rights and mobilise support from public and private audiences.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute advocacy strategies to influence decision‑makers and protect children’s rights.
• Design and implement communication plans, including digital media, content creation and media relations.
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of advocacy and communication activities.
• Manage project budgets, timelines and reporting requirements.
• Provide capacity‑building support to partners and staff on advocacy and communication techniques.
• Engage with stakeholders, including government, NGOs, donors and media, to foster collaboration.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master’s) in Public Policy, International Relations, Communication or a related field.
• Minimum five years of professional experience in advocacy, campaigning or communications.
• Fluency in French and at least intermediate English.
• Experience working in international, development or emergency contexts is an asset.
