Advocacy, External Engagement & Partnerships Director

About the role

The Advocacy, External Engagement and Partnerships Director will lead World Vision Burundi’s national advocacy, campaign and partnership agenda. Reporting to senior leadership, the role is responsible for shaping policy influence, building strategic alliances with churches and other stakeholders, and integrating advocacy across all programme areas to improve child well‑being.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement a national advocacy, campaigns and external engagement plan, including gender integration and alignment with Sustainable Development Goals.
• Lead the creation of a strategic partnership framework with the National Association of Churches and ensure its implementation at field level.
• Provide leadership and capacity‑building for technical programme leads and department heads to embed advocacy in all programmes.
• Oversee major policy and advocacy initiatives, ensuring compliance with World Vision standards and reporting requirements.
• Coach and manage a high‑performing Policy and Advocacy team, fostering a culture of learning, innovation and accountability.
• Promote World Vision Burundi as a leader in child well‑being and child protection by coordinating research and evidence generation.
• Integrate advocacy across ministries, including Integrated Programs, Quality, and Humanitarian & Emergency Affairs.
• Facilitate mutual learning between technical and advocacy teams within the country office and across the East Africa region.
