WASH Specialist (P-3) – Fixed Term in Bujumbura

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a qualified WASH Specialist (P‑3) on a fixed‑term contract to support the development, implementation and monitoring of the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene programme in Burundi. The role will provide technical guidance and management support to achieve WASH‑related results within the country programme.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and plan WASH programmes in line with UNICEF’s strategic objectives.
• Manage programme implementation, monitor progress and ensure delivery of results.
• Provide technical and operational support for WASH activities, including monitoring and evaluation.
• Lead humanitarian WASH preparedness and response initiatives.
• Build and maintain partnerships with government, NGOs and other stakeholders.
• Promote innovation, knowledge management and capacity‑building within the WASH team.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or equivalent in public health, sanitary/civil/environmental engineering, social science, communications or a related technical field.
• Minimum five years of professional experience in WASH programmes for developing countries.
• At least one year of deployment in a developing country and a three‑month deployment mission.
