Accountant – Financial Operations (Bujumbura)

About the role

The Accountant will support the financial operations of the RISE‑Burundi MNCH‑N project, ensuring accurate, timely and compliant processing of all financial transactions in line with Jhpiego policies, the QuickBooks User Manual, the Procurement Manual and U.S. Department of State regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and process payment vouchers for vendors, consultants, staff advances and reimbursements, verifying supporting documents and proper coding.
• Enter approved transactions into QuickBooks (QBE), maintain vendor profiles and chart of accounts, and generate month‑end reports, accruals and projections.
• Perform bank reconciliations, monitor advance balances, manage petty cash and ensure appropriate controls.
• Support fixed‑asset and inventory documentation, tax filings, audit preparation and overall financial documentation management.
• Assist the Senior Finance & Operations Manager in budgeting, expenditure tracking and compliance with internal and external requirements.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in accounting or finance operations, preferably in an international or non‑profit environment.
• Familiarity with QuickBooks and standard accounting codes.
• Ability to work accurately with large volumes of financial data and documentation.
• Strong attention to detail and compliance orientation.
