Planning & Monitoring Specialist (P-3) – Temporary, 8 months

About the role

The Planning & Monitoring Specialist (P-3) will support UNICEF Burundi in preparing the next 2028–2032 Country Programme. This 8‑month temporary appointment focuses on evidence generation, programme evaluation and alignment with national development priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive situation analyses and generate evidence to inform programme design.
• Evaluate the 2024–2027 Country Programme, capture lessons learned and document best practices.
• Facilitate stakeholder consultations with government, UN agencies and development partners.
• Align the new programme with Vision Burundi 2040‑2060 and emerging national priorities.
• Prepare briefing notes, reports and strategic recommendations for senior management.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in development studies, public policy, economics or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in programme planning, monitoring and evaluation within an international development context.
• Familiarity with UNICEF programme cycles and UN development frameworks.
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team and adapt to a challenging environment.
