About the role
The Programme Support Officer (UG) will work under the supervision of the Chief of Mission and the Project Development and Support Unit Coordinator at IOM Burundi. The role supports programme and project development, documentation, reporting and knowledge management for the country office.
Key responsibilities
- Support and coordinate project development activities with Programme Managers, providing technical inputs and drafting sections of funding proposals and appeals.
- Prepare and review periodic donor reports, interim and final reports, ensuring compliance with IOM procedures and donor requirements.
- Draft internal progress analyses, document decisions, problems or deviations and contribute to risk mitigation.
- Collect, process, analyse and document project data for reporting and knowledge‑management purposes.
- Maintain liaison with IOM Burundi units, the Regional Office in Nairobi and other implementing partners to ensure coordinated programme delivery.
- Prepare presentations, talking points and other materials for internal and external meetings.
- Undertake site and duty travel as required.
- Assist the Unit Coordinator in building project development capacity of mission staff through guidance, training and drafting guidance materials.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, Law, International Relations or a related field with at least two years of relevant professional experience, or a university degree in the same fields with four years of experience.
- Experience in programme or project development, donor reporting and knowledge management in an international or humanitarian context.
- Ability to work collaboratively with programme managers, regional specialists and headquarters staff.
