Applications Development & Enterprise Systems Manager

About the role

Econet Wireless Burundi seeks an experienced Applications Development & Enterprise Systems Manager to lead the design, integration, enhancement, and support of its enterprise applications. The role combines technical leadership with strategic oversight to ensure that all business applications are reliable, secure, scalable, and aligned with corporate objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Assess existing applications, identify improvement opportunities, and lead implementation of new systems in line with the Information Systems strategy.
• Conduct market research and technology assessments to recommend suitable application solutions.
• Oversee development, delivery, and continuous improvement of high‑quality applications that support efficient business processes.
• Ensure software integrations meet functional, compliance, technical, and interface requirements.
• Lead application enhancements, upgrades, and feasibility studies, providing recommendations based on findings.
• Participate in strategic planning with senior stakeholders and provide technology advisory support.
• Contribute to departmental budgeting, monitor expenditures, and support the Head of IS in prioritising activities.
• Manage performance reviews, identify training needs, and build team capabilities through coaching and knowledge transfer.
• Maintain an up‑to‑date inventory of software assets, licenses, and contracts, ensuring servers remain healthy, secure, and up‑to‑date.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in systems analysis, design, development, implementation, and maintenance.
• At least 2 years in a managerial role leading application development teams.
• Proven experience with enterprise systems and large‑scale software solutions.
• Strong leadership, analytical, problem‑solving, project management, and stakeholder management skills.
