Data Quality Specialist – Malaria Programs (Burundi)

About the role

PATH is seeking a Data Quality Specialist to support the US Government‑funded REACH Malaria project in Burundi. The role will strengthen malaria data systems, improve data quality, and promote evidence‑based decision‑making across national and sub‑national levels.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement malaria data quality improvement plans in partnership with the PNLP and other stakeholders.
• Organise and conduct routine data quality assessments (rDQA) at health facilities, analyse results and follow up on recommendations.
• Perform in‑depth analyses of routine malaria data to identify gaps and guide corrective actions.
• Develop and roll out data visualization and feedback mechanisms for malaria indicators.
• Implement data validation and cleaning protocols to ensure reliable analyses.
• Facilitate regular data review meetings at national and sub‑national levels and support interpretation of data for planning and resource allocation.
• Collaborate with the HMIS/DHIS2 team to ensure accurate capture of malaria indicators.
• Contribute to the refinement of reporting tools, SOPs, training materials and technical presentations.

Required profile

• Experience in health data management and data quality improvement, preferably within malaria or other infectious disease programs.
• Familiarity with national health information systems and the ability to work closely with ministries of health, district teams and partners.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to translate data findings into actionable recommendations.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement abilities.
