About the role
World Vision Burundi is seeking a Gift in Kind (GIK) Coordinator to lead the planning, allocation and distribution of in‑kind donations for children, including those with disabilities. The role ensures that GIK activities are integrated with disability‑inclusion strategies and comply with local regulations.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate GIK planning across projects, ensuring disability inclusion is mainstreamed in all programming.
- Identify community GIK needs, integrate them into project plans, and build field staff capacity on GIK processes.
- Lead allocation and distribution of GIK items, guaranteeing safety, cultural appropriateness and environmental compliance.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of Burundi import regulations, tax exemptions and market impact considerations.
- Document and report GIK impact to donors, producing monthly, quarterly and annual narratives and quantitative reports.
- Collaborate with government ministries, FBOs, CBOs and disability organisations to strengthen partnerships and ensure equitable access for persons with disabilities.
- Manage inventory control, oversee the new GIK software system and ensure timely receipt and acknowledgment of shipments.
- Facilitate regular meetings with the GIK distribution committee and relevant stakeholder networks.
Required profile
- Relevant tertiary education in humanitarian logistics, development studies, social work or a related field.
- Proven experience in coordinating in‑kind donations, inventory management or similar logistics functions within the non‑profit sector.
- Demonstrated understanding of disability inclusion principles and experience working with persons with disabilities.
- Familiarity with Burundi’s import procedures, tax exemption processes and local market dynamics.
- Strong reporting skills and ability to produce donor‑compliant narratives and quantitative data.
- Excellent communication and partnership‑building abilities with government agencies, NGOs and community groups.
Required skills
- Experience with inventory management or logistics software.
- Proficiency in data collection and reporting tools.
