Hospital Administrator / Manager

About the role

Village Health Works is seeking a Hospital Administrator / Manager to lead non‑clinical operations at its 85,000 sq ft teaching hospital in Kigutu, Burundi. Reporting to the Director of Operations and working closely with the Medical Director, you will ensure that facilities, equipment and supply chains run smoothly to support high‑quality patient care in a rural setting.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day facilities and maintenance activities, including preventive maintenance scheduling and compliance.
• Ensure continuous availability of utilities such as water, power and waste systems.
• Supervise maintenance and technical staff and maintain infrastructure safety and regulatory compliance.
• Provide administrative oversight of biomedical equipment management, coordinating inventory, calibration, repair and maintenance.
• Manage medical supply systems to guarantee timely procurement and distribution of essential items.
• Act as the operational bridge between clinical leadership and support services, translating strategy into daily operational excellence.

Required profile

• Proven experience in hospital or large‑scale facilities management, preferably in a low‑resource or rural environment.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent organizational abilities and a commitment to safety, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement.
• Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with clinical leaders and external partners.
