National Technical Expert – Circular Economy (Burundi)

About the role

Expertise France is seeking a National Technical Expert to support the SWITCH‑2‑CE programme in Burundi. The expert will act as the primary in‑country contact for circular economy (CE) initiatives, facilitating stakeholder engagement, policy development, and grant management to accelerate CE adoption across key value chains.

Key responsibilities

• Map and maintain relationships with national ministries, development agencies, financial institutions, MSMEs, business associations and civil‑society organisations involved in CE.
• Support project engagements with stakeholders and coordinate implementation activities.
• Lead the Policy Support Facility, raising awareness, coordinating beneficiary support and facilitating national policy dialogues on CE.
• Oversee the Matching Grant Facility by identifying and pre‑screening potential applicants, BDS providers and eligible MSMEs, and by providing insights on the financial ecosystem.
• Produce periodic reports, monitor CE developments, and contribute to M&E data collection for project indicators.

Required profile

• Proven experience in circular economy projects, policy advocacy or sustainable development within an African context.
• Strong understanding of MSME financing, grant mechanisms and stakeholder coordination.
• Excellent communication skills in English and French.
