Pharmaceutical Procurement Officer

About the role

The Pharmaceutical Procurement Officer will manage the procurement and supply chain of pharmaceuticals, medical supplies, IPC commodities, PPE, laboratory supplies and other health commodities needed for the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) Preparedness and Response Project in Burundi. The role ensures compliance with Jhpiego’s Procurement Manual, U.S. Department of State requirements and Burundian regulations while supporting timely availability of quality products.

Key responsibilities

• Lead procurement planning and forecasting for all EVD‑related commodities.
• Collaborate with technical teams to assess medical and pharmaceutical needs.
• Manage end‑to‑end procurement processes, from solicitation through contract award.
• Oversee distribution, handling and storage of commodities, including temperature‑sensitive items.
• Maintain high‑quality documentation, internal controls and audit readiness.
• Ensure compliance with ethical standards, donor requirements and local regulations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in pharmaceutical or medical commodity procurement.
• Familiarity with donor‑funded procurement guidelines and local procurement regulations.
• Strong analytical and forecasting abilities.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced humanitarian environment and travel occasionally to provincial sites.
