Provincial Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Officer

About the role

PATH is seeking three Provincial Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Officers to support the REACH Malaria project in Burundi. The officers will be based in the provinces of Buhumuza, Burunga and Gitega and will work under the supervision of the Provincial Coordinators and the Project Monitoring and Evaluation Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Support the development of the national MEL plan and data collection tools.
• Assist the annual work‑planning process to integrate MEL activities.
• Implement MEL activities at the provincial level, including routine data collection, cleaning, processing and analysis.
• Provide on‑site training and data consultation in DHIS2 for health district and facility staff.
• Support facility assessments, supervision visits and primary data‑collection efforts.
• Manage data entry and processing for Data Quality Audits, including validation and review.
• Assist national, provincial and district leadership teams with regular malaria reporting from the HMIS.
• Provide technical and logistical support for capacity‑building on data use for quality improvement and decision‑making.
• Lead knowledge‑management activities to store MEL tools, forms, reports and datasets.

Required profile

• Degree in public health, epidemiology, statistics, or a related field.
• Experience with health data systems and monitoring & evaluation processes.
• Familiarity with malaria programs and national malaria control strategies is preferred.
• Ability to travel within the assigned province and work onsite.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
