Driver – Transport IOM Staff and Goods

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a reliable driver to operate its vehicle(s) in Makamba. The driver will transport IOM staff, partners and authorized cargo safely, ensuring punctual and cost‑effective travel across the field and city locations.

Key responsibilities

• Drive IOM vehicle(s) to transport staff, partners and authorized goods while complying with traffic rules.
• Perform daily vehicle checks (tires, brakes, engine oil, fan belt, etc.) and routine maintenance to keep the vehicle roadworthy.
• Complete weekly vehicle status reports for the Fleet Manager and promptly report any defects.
• Maintain a vehicle log sheet covering fuel usage, oil changes and mileage.
• Assist in planning and controlling regular transport services.
• Handle accident procedures, inform supervisors and obtain police reports.
• Collect and deliver mail and documents as directed.
• Refuel, keep the vehicle clean and ensure it is used only for official business.
• Secure vehicle keys at shift end and be available for weekend or after‑hours duties as needed.
• Perform any other duties assigned by supervisors.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or high school diploma combined with a valid driving licence (class B, C or D).
• National candidate of Burundi.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.
• Good physical condition to perform vehicle inspections and basic maintenance.

Required skills

• Valid driving licence (class B, C, D).
• Basic vehicle inspection and routine maintenance skills (checking tires, brakes, oil, belts, etc.).
