Civil Peace Service Advisor – Dealing with the Past & MHPSS

About the role

The Civil Peace Service (CPS) Advisor will support the regional CPS programme “Fostering peace literacy and civil society networks in the Great Lakes Region”. The focus is on Dealing with the Past (DwP) and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) to strengthen peacebuilding, dialogue and human‑rights initiatives across partner organisations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert advice on DwP and MHPSS to partner organisations in the Great Lakes Region.
• Facilitate collaborative processes, workshops and trainings that integrate peace literacy, youth empowerment and gender‑based violence prevention.
• Support the development and implementation of cross‑border peace projects, including digital peacebuilding and media literacy activities.
• Contribute to the consolidation and expansion of the regional civil‑society network through annual meetings and joint activities.

Required profile

• Relevant academic background in peace studies, conflict resolution, mental health, or related fields.
• Experience working with civil‑society organisations in conflict‑affected regions.
• Strong understanding of gender‑based violence, youth empowerment and digital peacebuilding concepts.
