Technical Consultant – Rapid Assessment for Safe Surgery Project

About the role

The Technical Consultant will provide technical services to support the start‑up of the MOMENTUM Safe Surgery in Family Planning and Obstetrics (MSSFPO) project in Burundi. The role focuses on rapid assessment and context mapping to inform a 20‑month work plan that strengthens safe obstetric surgery, fistula prevention, and long‑acting reversible contraception services.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct an in‑country rapid assessment using project interview guides, including key informant interviews, context mapping, and document review.
• Collect and synthesize locally available documents, data sources, and routine health information system reports.
• Prepare a comprehensive report summarizing findings, high‑level answers, recommended activities, focus geographic areas, and urgent priorities.
• Review and edit presentation materials created by the global project team to support workshop use.
• Facilitate and present at the co‑creation workshop scheduled for October 2024, sharing assessment results.
• Contribute to drafting narrative sections of the project work plan as requested.
• Identify and shortlist potential local organizations with experience in similar health interventions.
• Provide ad‑hoc support to the Finance and Administration start‑up consultant as needed.
