Deputy Representative Operations

About the role

The Deputy Representative Operations supports the Head of Office in delivering UNICEF’s mandate in Burundi. This senior position provides strategic leadership across all operational functions, ensuring efficient and effective service delivery for programmes that improve children’s lives.

Key responsibilities

• Act as Officer in Charge in the Head of Office’s absence and represent the office in senior management forums.
• Coordinate and oversee core support services including budget, financial management, reporting, facilities, administration, supply and logistics, ICT, and safety & security.
• Contribute to country programme development by anticipating operational challenges and proposing value‑for‑money solutions.
• Represent organisational risk, governance, and results‑based management perspectives in senior discussions.
• Facilitate collaboration among functional areas to achieve a unified operational vision.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior operational management within an international development or humanitarian context.
• Strong analytical and risk‑informed decision‑making abilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and drive results.
