Financial Accountant

About the role

The Financial Accountant will be based on‑site in Bujumbura and is responsible for maintaining accurate, complete, and timely financial records while supporting WiGLI’s financial management and reporting processes.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
• Record and reconcile bank, cash, supplier and customer transactions.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports and statements.
• Review payments to ensure proper authorization, documentation and compliance.
• Monitor expenditures against approved budgets and report variances.
• Support budgeting, cash‑flow management, forecasting and donor financial reporting.
• Assist with payroll, procurement, asset management and audit processes.
• Analyze financial data and provide timely information to management.
• Strengthen internal controls, financial procedures and systems.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in accounting or financial management.
• Experience in NGOs, nonprofit or donor‑funded organizations is an advantage.
• Proven ability to prepare and interpret financial statements and management reports.
• Knowledge of accounting standards, local tax regulations and audit support.
