Consultant for Gender Programmatic Review (International)

About the role

The UNICEF Country Office in Burundi is seeking a consultant to lead a gender programmatic review of its 2024‑2027 Country Programme Document. The assignment will be remote‑based with occasional travel to Burundi and will last three months.

Key responsibilities

• Assess how gender equality is integrated across the six priority sectors of the CPD (Health & Nutrition, WASH, Education & Skills, Child Protection, Social Policy, Programme Effectiveness).
• Identify gender gaps and opportunities in programme design and implementation.
• Develop actionable recommendations and a priority action plan to strengthen gender‑responsive programming.
• Produce a concise report with evidence‑based findings and narrative analysis.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in gender studies, social sciences, international development, public policy or a related field.
• Minimum eight years of professional experience in gender equality, programme review or related work.
• Fluent in French and English.
• Experience with UN agencies or international organisations is an asset.

Required skills

• Expertise in conducting gender program reviews for UN Country Programme Documents.
• Strong research and data‑analysis capabilities.
• Excellent narrative writing and report‑writing skills.
• Knowledge of multisectoral action planning.
