Consultant for Gender Programmatic Review (Internationals only)

About the role

UNICEF Burundi is seeking an experienced consultant to lead a gender programmatic review of its Country Programme Document (CPD) 2024‑2027. The assignment will assess how gender equality is integrated across key sectors and provide actionable recommendations to strengthen gender‑responsive programming.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct a comprehensive review of gender integration within the CPD sectors: health & nutrition, WASH, education, child protection, social policy, and programme effectiveness.
• Identify gender gaps, opportunities, and priority actions across all programme areas.
• Prepare a detailed report with evidence‑based recommendations and an actionable gender‑responsive action plan.
• Collaborate with UNICEF Burundi staff and relevant stakeholders to validate findings and ensure alignment with UNICEF gender policies.
• Present findings and recommendations to senior management and donors as required.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in gender studies, social sciences, international development, public policy or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of professional experience in gender equality, programme review, or related work.
• Fluency in both French and English.
• Experience working with UN agencies or international organisations is an asset.

Required skills

• Research and data analysis.
• Strong narrative and report‑writing abilities.
• Knowledge of multisectoral action planning.
