Deputy Representative Operations (P-4) – Fixed Term in Bujumbura

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Deputy Representative Operations (P‑4) on a fixed‑term contract to support the Head of Office in Bujumbura, Burundi. The incumbent will act as a strategic business partner, driving results, managing risk and ensuring efficient delivery of operational services across the country programme.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Head of Office in overall office management and act as Officer in Charge when required.
• Coordinate and oversee core support functions including budgeting, financial management and reporting, facilities, administration, supply and logistics, ICT, safety and security.
• Represent organisational risk, governance and results‑based management perspectives in senior management discussions.
• Anticipate operational challenges, propose value‑for‑money solutions and contribute to programme documents such as CPD, CPMP and annual plans.
• Collaborate with the Country and Senior Management Teams to align operational activities with UNICEF’s strategic objectives.

Required profile

• Senior professional with extensive experience in operational management within international development or humanitarian settings.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex budgets and logistics.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a focus on risk‑informed decision making.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement capabilities.
