Deputy Representative Operations (P-4) – Fixed Term, Bujumbura

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Deputy Representative Operations (P‑4) on a fixed‑term basis to support the Head of Office in Bujumbura, Burundi. The incumbent will act as a strategic business partner, driving results, managing risk and ensuring effective delivery of operational services across the country programme.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Head of Office in overall office management and act as Officer in Charge when required.
• Coordinate and oversee core support functions including budgeting, financial management and reporting, facilities, administration, supply and logistics, ICT, and safety & security.
• Facilitate collaboration among functional areas to develop a unified operational vision.
• Represent risk, governance and policy perspectives in Country and Senior Management Team discussions.
• Promote results‑based management and contribute to programme and management decisions.
• Analyze business needs of the Country Programme and provide solution‑focused advice.

Required profile

• Senior professional with extensive experience in operations management within an international development or humanitarian context.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex budgets and logistics.
• Strong analytical and risk‑management skills, with a results‑oriented mindset.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement capabilities.
