Deputy Representative Operations (P-4) – Fixed Term

About the role

The Deputy Representative Operations supports the Head of Office in delivering UNICEF’s results for children in Burundi. This senior P‑4 position provides strategic leadership across all operational functions and ensures effective risk‑informed decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate operational support services including budget, financial management, facilities, administration, supply and logistics, ICT, safety and security.
• Act as Officer in Charge in the absence of the Head of Office.
• Represent the organization on the Country and Senior Management Teams, bringing a risk‑governance perspective to discussions.
• Facilitate unified vision among functional areas and promote results‑based management.
• Contribute to programme and management decisions that advance child‑focused outcomes.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior operational management within an international development or humanitarian context.
• Strong analytical and advisory skills with a focus on risk‑informed solutions.
• Ability to work collaboratively with government, donors, NGOs and UN partners.
• Excellent communication and leadership capabilities.
