Deputy Representative Operations – UNICEF Bujumbura

About the role

The Deputy Representative Operations supports the Head of Office in delivering UNICEF’s mandate in Burundi. This senior position provides strategic, risk‑informed analysis and drives results across all operational functions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead by example and support the Head of Office in managing the country office.
• Act as Officer in Charge during the Head’s absence.
• Coordinate support services including budget, financial management and reporting, facilities, administration, supply and logistics, ICT, safety and security.
• Represent risk, governance and policy perspectives in senior management discussions and promote results‑based management.
• Understand business needs of the Country Programme, anticipate challenges and propose value‑for‑money solutions.
• Contribute to Country Programme Development and related strategic documents.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior operational leadership within an international development or humanitarian context.
• Strong understanding of budget, financial reporting, logistics, ICT and security management.
• Ability to provide risk‑informed, solution‑focused advice to senior decision‑makers.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
