About the role
The Advocacy, External Engagement and Partnerships Director leads World Vision Burundi’s national advocacy, campaign and partnership agenda. Reporting to senior management, the role shapes policy influence, integrates gender considerations, and drives collaboration with churches and other stakeholders to improve child wellbeing across Burundi.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement a national advocacy, campaigns and external engagement plan aligned with World Vision’s strategic priorities, including the Enough Campaign, SDG contributions, humanitarian advocacy and social accountability.
- Lead the creation of a strategic partnership framework with the National Association of Churches and ensure its application at field level.
- Provide leadership and capacity‑building for technical programme leads and department heads to embed advocacy across all programmes and ensure compliance with World Vision standards.
- Oversee major policy and advocacy initiatives, manage the CVA database, and ensure alignment with Horizon reporting.
- Coach and manage a high‑performing Policy and Advocacy team, fostering a culture of learning, innovation and accountability.
- Promote World Vision Burundi as a leader in child well‑being and child protection by coordinating research partnerships and feeding insights into regional and global advocacy.
- Integrate advocacy into other ministry areas, including Integrated Programs, Quality, and Humanitarian & Emergency Affairs.
- Facilitate mutual learning between technical programmes and advocacy teams across East Africa.
Required profile
- Proven senior leadership experience in advocacy, campaign planning and partnership development.
- Strong understanding of child protection, gender integration and Sustainable Development Goals.
- Experience working with faith‑based organisations and national associations.
- Ability to build and lead high‑performing teams and drive cross‑functional collaboration.
