About the role
The Disaster Risk Management Food & Cash Assistance Manager leads World Vision Burundi’s efforts to reduce disaster risk, prepare for emergencies, and deliver food and cash assistance to vulnerable children and families. The role ensures that the National Office’s strategies and programmes integrate disaster risk reduction (DRR) and respond effectively to humanitarian crises.
Key responsibilities
- Provide innovative leadership for disaster management, ensuring the National Office strategy addresses common risks and integrates DRR.
- Develop, implement, and monitor contingency and response plans that align with World Vision’s strategic goals.
- Deploy resources efficiently during emergencies and uphold internal and international humanitarian standards.
- Lead the documentation and sharing of best practices across the organization.
- Gather, analyse, and report early‑warning data to senior leadership and regional offices.
- Develop and manage Disaster Preparedness Plans and ensure early‑warning information informs programme adjustments.
- Identify and engage appropriate cash delivery agents for food assistance.
- Coordinate with consortiums, working groups, and resource development units to secure funding and timely supplies.
- Build and maintain the capacity of the National Disaster Management Team through training, reporting, and deployment.
Required profile
- Proven experience in disaster risk management and humanitarian response.
- Strong leadership and coordination skills with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of child‑focused DRR principles and humanitarian standards.
- Ability to develop and oversee contingency and preparedness plans.
