Partnerships & Communications Senior Manager

About the role

The Partnerships & Communications Senior Manager will lead the development and management of strategic partnerships and external communications for Amazi Water, a leading clean‑water NGO in Burundi. Based in Bujumbura, this full‑time, on‑site position works closely with donors, government bodies, private sector partners and internal teams to advance the organization’s mission.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, cultivate and manage relationships with institutional donors, foundations, corporations, government agencies and implementing partners.
• Design partnership strategies, prepare proposals, concept notes and comprehensive reports.
• Lead strategic communications, develop key messages, oversee digital channels and coordinate media outreach.
• Produce impact stories, videos, photography, presentations and other communication assets that showcase results.
• Collaborate with program teams to gather data, narratives and ensure accurate, timely information sharing.
• Organise events, site visits and advocacy activities while maintaining consistent, values‑driven branding.
• Provide line management for communications staff and coordinate with senior leadership on strategy and planning.
• Monitor project performance, risks and stakeholder expectations, ensuring delivery of partner commitments.

Required profile

• Proven experience in developing and managing strategic partnerships with donors, NGOs, government and private sector actors.
• Strong background in external communications, media relations and digital content production.
• Demonstrated ability to oversee project coordination, reporting and risk management.
• Experience in leading and mentoring a communications team and working with senior leadership.
• Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills, with a focus on long‑term collaboration.
